Guam has many hidden gems laying in its mountain and oceanside landscapes. The village of Merizo, better known to the locals as Malesso', is one of them. The way that Malesso’ rolls off the tongue adds to the sweet, chill vibes this village feels as you pull into it. It doesn't matter if you are driving from Inarajan or Umatac, you know as soon as you cross over the line that you are there. It’s special.
When J wanted his Senior Session at his family’s land in Malesso’, I was more then excited. It’s that personal touch that becomes important to my images. It gives you all of the feels and is the thing that adds longevity to the images themselves for future generations. I know seniors are NOT thinking about that, but I am, and as I get older and watch my daughter grow, there are moments and places that hold those feelings that I want to resonate through time. There is nothing more special for a senior, who is embarking on a new life journey, then to pay homage to the place that they have grown, loved and cherished. Where ever life takes them, they will remember this time of youth and excitement.
This Senior Session was a blast and J was so fun to work with. I left there feeling like he was my little brother and a part of the family. He is hilarious and was down to try all the things I threw his way. Walking for pictures is surprisingly difficult but he mastered it. I am so excited for him and I cannot wait to see what big things he does.
